Research Assistant

The Intersectionality and Marginalization (I.AM) Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is hiring a Research Specialist to assist Dr. Morgan Jerald in coordinating and conducting studies. Research in the lab draws on intersectionality theory to examine how multiple systems of oppression, such as racism and sexism, uniquely shape the experiences of Black women. In particular, we focus on socializing agents— such as the media and cultural stereotypes— that influence Black women’s attitudes about gender and their physical, mental, and sexual health. We use various methods to investigate this topic, including surveys, online and in-person experiments, community-based research, and qualitative research. More information on the lab is available at: jeraldiamlab.comThe Research Specialist will assist with all ongoing lab research projects and contribute to the development of new studies. They will also provide research and administrative support to Dr. Jerald and work with graduate students and undergraduate research assistants. This position is ideal for those interested in gaining more research experience before pursuing graduate study in Psychology or a research-related position. The Research Specialist will have the opportunity to present at conferences and co-author publications.
