Equine manager/Horse Trainer

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role at Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement, Inc. in Junction City, KS for an Equine Manager/Horse Trainer. The role involves providing daily care for horses, overseeing feeding and grooming routines, treating injuries, monitoring the health and well-being of the horses, and performing evaluations of new admissions and conducting training sessions from initial ground training to saddle starting. This position will also supervise volunteers on a routine basis. The successful candidate will participate in presentations of our equine residents to potential adopters. Computer competency and social media profeciency are additional necessary skills for the successful candidate.This is not a live-in position. Qualifications Excellent knowledge of equine care, training techniques, and behaviorExperience in managing a herd of horses and conducting individualized training programsStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both horses, team members and volunteersKnowledge of equine first aid and emergency proceduresUnderstanding of horse nutrition, anatomy, and basic veterinary careCertifications in equine management or training are a plusa minimum of 5 years in direct equine care and training required
