Role Overview:
The Operations Excellence Leader in the Life Sciences industry is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives within the organization, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations such as GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice). This role requires a deep understanding of lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and best practices in life sciences operations management, including production, quality control, and supply chain. The Operations Excellence Leader will lead cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, develop action plans, and implement sustainable solutions that align with regulatory standards.
Work Environment: This is a fully on-site position
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive operations excellence strategy that aligns with the company’s objectives in the life sciences sector, including regulatory compliance, product quality, and operational efficiency.
Continuous Improvement: Identify, lead, and manage process improvement projects focused on enhancing production efficiency, reducing waste, and improving compliance with GMP, FDA, and other relevant regulations using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as R&D, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Manufacturing to drive initiatives that enhance operational performance while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Regularly report on these metrics to senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
Training and Development: Conduct training sessions and workshops focused on building a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the life sciences industry. Ensure all personnel are trained on relevant compliance standards and best practices.
Change Management: Lead change management initiatives related to process improvements, ensuring smooth adoption of new procedures while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. Develop communication plans to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Problem Solving: Facilitate root cause analysis and problem-solving activities, ensuring that issues related to product quality, manufacturing processes, or regulatory compliance are identified, analyzed, and resolved in a timely manner.
Best Practices: Identify and implement industry best practices in life sciences operations, benchmarking against leading companies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
Project Management: Oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting all regulatory requirements.
Critical Competencies for Success:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in operations management, continuous improvement, or a related field within the life sciences industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification is highly desirable. GMP, or other relevant life sciences industry certifications are a plus
Deep knowledge of regulatory requirements such as GMP, FDA regulations, and ISO standards.
Excellent leadership and team-building skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in a regulated environment.
Proficient in project management tools and techniques.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and drive change in a regulated industry.
