This role involves the use of tooling to perform mechanical and electrical repairs and modifications, works directly with various engineering teams to support testing needs and requires maintaining an organized and safe work environment.ResponsibilitiesPerform diagnosis and repair of prototype vehicle's electrical/mechanical/software systemsMaintain detailed records of all work performedMaintain test equipment in operational condition by performing routine maintenance and making minor repairs/adjustments as neededDesign, build and modify vehicle instrumentation, mounting systems, test equipment, wiring harnesses and data acquisition systems as needed.Fabricate and/or modify existing prototype components/fixturesDocument setup, troubleshooting and test results, communicate issues and propose improvementsPrepare vehicles for testing, including instrumentation installation and troubleshooting of data loggers and test equipmentExecute vehicle testing and data capture with the support of test engineers to evaluate prototype vehicles and systems.Communicate directly with engineers and other technicians to ensure a high level of technical supportLoad and transport prototype vehicles to specified test locations as neededTest drive prototype vehiclesEstablish and maintain good working relationships with partners and stakeholdersQualifications5+ years of technician/mechanic work experience in the automotive industry. Electric/hybrid vehicle experience preferredValid driver license with clean recordAdvanced driver training. (preferred)Strong automotive electrical understandingHigh Voltage electrical knowledge and trainingCAN/LIN network understandingMinor fabrication experienceStrong technical and mechanical abilityMinimum age of 21No driving related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period)No drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 yearsNo more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 yearsMust have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be operating a vehicleWill be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoringTravel up to 50%Pay DisclosureThe Hourly pay range for this role is $40.67 - $50.84 for Palo Alto, California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
