This role ensures accurate financial information, regulatory compliance, and supports strategic decision-making by providing financial analysis and guidance to senior management.As a key member of the finance leadership team, the Controller contributes to strategic initiatives, process improvements, and system enhancements, including ERP optimization and automation of financial workflows. This position requires a hands-on leader who can balance day-to-day financial operations with high-level strategic support in a fast-paced logistics setting.Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises the Finance Team which consists of a Staff Accountant, Project Accountant, and Corporate Accountant.Duties/Responsibilities:Financial Management & Reporting Oversee all accounting operations:General LedgerAccounts Payable/ReceivablePayrollAccount ReconciliationsEnsure timely and accurate closing of accountsAbility to interpret and prepare financial statements. (Monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal and external purposes.Monitor cash flow and financial performanceFinancial Analysis, Budgeting and ForecastingPartner with CFO to perform annual budgeting process.Monitor departmental budgets and projections on a monthly basis and analyze variances.Provide recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvementsCompliance & Internal ControlsEnsure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and regulationsDevelop and maintain internal control systemsCoordinate external audits and liaise with auditorsEnsure tax compliance and regulatory reportingOversee the preparation and timely filing of all local and state sales tax returns, including reviewing requirements with third party tax providersImprove accounting systems and processes in coordination with other departmentsTeam LeadershipSupervise and mentor Finance staffManage performance, training, and developmentStrategic SupportProvide financial insights to support business decisionsAnalyze financial data and identify trends or risksEducation and Experience:EducationBachelor’s degree AccountingProfessional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or CMA are highly desirableExperienceMinimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or related fieldsAt least 3–5 years of experience in a financial leadership role (e.g., Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller)Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reportingExperience managing audits, compliance, internal controls, and risk managementExperience in percent-complete/job cost accounting highly desirable.Proficiency with ViewPoint or other project accounting software highly desirable.Personal Competencies:Attention to detail and accuracy.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational abilities.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
