A specialized engineering and project development group is seeking a Project Development Engineer to lead early-stage development of HVAC renovation, energy infrastructure, and decarbonization projects across large institutional campuses.
This role sits at the front end of complex projects, working directly with facility owners to assess existing building and central utility systems, identify infrastructure improvements, and develop technically and financially viable upgrade strategies before projects move into design and construction.
Typical projects involve universities, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, and government campuses, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, electrification, and district energy systems.
What you'll do
Conduct facility and campus infrastructure assessments
Develop baseline energy models (eQUEST or similar)
Analyze carbon and energy use to identify system upgrades
Evaluate renovation and infrastructure options through cost and lifecycle analysis
Develop deliverables including facility assessments, decarbonization plans, and investment-grade energy audits
Coordinate with engineering and construction teams as projects move toward implementation
Support client presentations and mentor junior engineers
Qualifications
Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
PE or EIT working toward licensure
5+ years of experience in mechanical, energy, or infrastructure engineering
Experience with HVAC retrofit or energy upgrade projects in existing facilities
Familiarity with energy modeling tools such as eQUEST
Compensation
$100k–$130k base + bonus
