Job Summary Certified Care Specialist – Job Summary The Certified Care Specialist is responsible for enhancing the quality of life for residents by providing compassionate, professional support with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal care. Working under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Care, this position ensures that residents receive attentive, respectful, and individualized care while maintaining a safe, clean, and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities Assist residents with all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing (tub, shower, bed bath), dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and toileting. Support residents with mobility and safe transfers using assistive devices such as Hoyer or resident lifts. Provide skincare and preventive measures to minimize the risk of pressure injuries; promptly report any signs of skin breakdown to clinical supervisors. Accurately measure, record, and report vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure) and document changes in condition. Record intake and output as directed by the Resident Care Coordinator or Director of Clinical Care. Observe residents for changes in physical or emotional condition and communicate findings promptly to nursing staff. Administer medications as assigned, ensuring adherence to care plans and compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations. Assist residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer’s and dementia, using supportive and safety-centered strategies. Perform housekeeping duties including making beds, cleaning resident rooms, and maintaining sanitary conditions following facility standards. Ensure resident areas and building conditions are reported for maintenance or housekeeping needs using proper work order procedures. Assist with meal preparation and service, accommodating individual dietary restrictions and encouraging healthy nutrition. Participate in emergency procedures and provide calm, efficient support during acute or urgent situations. Provide emotional and social support to residents and families, including end-of-life or hospice care when applicable. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of all resident care activities. Engage in ongoing education and training, including CPR, first aid, dementia care, and patient transfer safety. Qualifications & Experience Prior experience in assisted living, skilled nursing, group home, or home care setting preferred. Knowledge of patient observation, vital signs monitoring, and documentation practices. Experience administering medications and following individualized care plans. Familiarity with care techniques for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or developmental disabilities. Ability to perform safe lifting and transfer procedures using equipment such as Hoyer lifts. Understanding of HIPAA privacy regulations and resident rights. Compassionate, patient, and reliable work ethic with a strong commitment to resident dignity and wellbeing.
