Manager, IT Application Development - Stores

"Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship."The Manager, IT Application Development, is responsible for the planning, delivery, and ongoing support of enterprise store technology solutions across Family Dollar’s retail footprint. This role leads internal team members and external development partners to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-effective applications that support critical store operations.The position serves as a central intake and delivery point for store systems initiatives, managing demand, priorities, estimates, vendor performance, and execution. The Manager partners closely with Information Technology, all other Support Center resources as needed and third-party vendors to ensure successful delivery, deployment, and continuous improvement of store systems at scale.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn intake, prioritization, and delivery of application development initiatives from requirements through deploymentLead and coordinate internal staff, consultants, systems integrators, and hardware/software vendorsProvide oversight and technical direction for application development, integrations, and deploymentsCurate scalable enterprise level solutions that are reliable and optimized for future growthManage multiple concurrent initiatives while identifying risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategiesOversee store technology deployments to ensure minimal operational impactManage budgets, forecasts, vendor contracts, and change ordersHold vendors accountable to delivery commitments, SLAs, and financial controlsDrive process improvement, delivery quality, and operational stabilityDevelop team members through coaching, performance management, and resource planningTravel: 10% or more for project-related events, conferences, and on-site meetings when required Minimum QualificationsPreferred but not requiredFamiliarity with retail store systems such as POS, store portals, workforce management, or store level mobile applicationsWorking knowledge of:Web and mobile application developmentBackend services, APIs, and system integrationsData feeds and ETL processesExperience supporting business critical, highly integrated systemsExposure to Agile or hybrid delivery models and SDLC best practicesGeneral understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and enterprise architecture considerationsFamily Dollar is an equal opportunity employer and committed to recruiting, hiring, training, and promoting qualified people of all backgrounds, and make all employment decisions without regard to any protected status.
