Electrical Design Engineer

The environment emphasizes technical excellence, practical problem-solving, and client-focused solutions.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Electrical Design Engineer role based in Brooklyn, NY. The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for developing electrical plans, layouts, and calculations for building power, lighting, and auxiliary systems in residential, commercial, and specialty projects. Day-to-day tasks include preparing design drawings, performing load calculations, assisting with equipment sizing, and coordinating with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams. The role involves reviewing codes and standards, supporting the preparation of construction documents and specifications, and responding to RFIs during construction. The Electrical Design Engineer will also participate in site visits, field surveys, and inspections to verify existing conditions and support design implementation, while collaborating closely with project managers and senior engineers to deliver accurate and timely project deliverables.Qualifications Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering principles, including Electricity concepts and circuit analysis.Proficiency in Electrical Design and Design Engineering for building systems, including layouts, calculations, and specifications.Experience with Power Distribution systems, including panel schedules, feeder sizing, and coordination with utility services.Ability to read and produce engineering drawings using CAD/BIM tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and familiarity with relevant electrical codes (e.g., NEC, local codes).Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; EIT/FE or progress toward licensure is a plus.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and clients on-site.Experience with MEP coordination, construction administration, or prior work in building design environments is preferred.
