Structural Engineer
Position Summary
JGMS Government Services is looking to hire a structural engineer that will work within a project team environment to support construction projects. This position is full-time and will be performed on-site in Niskayuna, NY. Candidates must have an active DOE L security clearance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and define project scope with sponsors.
Work with a project team to develop specifications, cost estimates, drawing reviews, and provide engineering support during the construction phase for buildings and utility projects.
Oversee architectural engineering firms in developing concept designs, construction documents, and cost estimates.
Coordinate and interact with facility staff and contractors.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of science in structural engineering.
5-10+ years experience performing structural engineering tasks including the development of contract documents, calculations, and cost estimates.
Working knowledge of building codes and standards.
Experience in construction administration (submittal review, RFI's, construction inspections, etc.).
Desired Qualifications
EIT certificate and/or PE license
Engineering consulting experience
Working knowledge of NYS Building Codes, AISC, ASCE
Security Clearance
Candidates must have an active DOE L security clearance.
Background Check and Screenings
A pre-employment drug screening and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verification is required.
