Build New Hampshire.The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Bridge Maintenance, has a full-time vacancy for a Civil Engineer IV.SUMMARY:To perform professional engineering supervision of statewide bridge maintenance functions. All accountabilities must be performed in accordance with Federal, State and Department rules and policies, including risk management, safety and environmental standards, regulations and administrative orders.YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience:Education: Master's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering.Experience: Four years of post-baccalaureate experience in engineering.OREducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering.Experience: Six years of post-baccalaureate experience in engineering.OREducation: Associate's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering or engineering technology.Experience: Six years of experience in engineering at a level equivalent to Civil Engineer I (or higher), plus two additional years of experience in a position comparable to an Engineering Technician.License/Certification:1. Professional Engineer (PE) License with designation in Civil, Civil Highway, Geo Technical or Structural Engineering2. An employee in trainee status shall meet the minimum qualifications within the period of time specified on the SJD, not to exceed one year of being hired into this position.RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises Bridge Maintenance crews and implements safe and efficient construction practices. Reviews Bridge Construction Superintendent's performance evaluations and makes recommendations.Generates and reviews designs and field engineering necessary to support Bureau maintenance and construction needs.Acts as engineering liaison and facilitates bilateral communication between the Bureau's construction personnel, office staff and the Department.Implements and coordinates management systems with field crew operations, including the review of performance measures and makes recommendations.Develops training programs on best materials and methods to ensure and improve the Bureau's overall project quality and production.Manages, recommends and implements modifications to computerized database systems for the tracking of equipment and consumable material inventories. Assesses needs and orders construction materials and equipment for the Bureau.Collaborates with the Bureau's Program Specialist to track and implement the Department and Bureau's Safety Programs.Assist the Bureau and Department by serving on various workgroups, committees, and task forces as directed.Coordinates with other Department Bureaus and Districts to meet the needs of the Bureau of Bridge Maintenance, in areas such as equipment and personnel needs, permitting, traffic control, Public Relations, utility work, hired contractors, funding, project and purchasing information and computer needs training.
