Director of Distribution (Fort Worth)

A growing organization in the energy and utility sector is seeking a Director of Distribution Planning to lead long-term planning, reliability, and expansion initiatives for a large-scale electric distribution system. This leadership role will oversee system planning strategies related to substations, distribution infrastructure, distributed energy resources, system capacity, and regulatory compliance while supporting future load growth and operational reliability.Key ResponsibilitiesLead electric distribution system modeling, analysis, forecasting, and long-term infrastructure planning.Develop strategic expansion plans to support commercial, industrial, oil & gas, EV, and distributed generation growth.Oversee load-serving substation planning, system capacity evaluations, and infrastructure optimization projects.Direct multi-year load forecasting and substation expansion strategies.Support regulatory reporting, compliance initiatives, and planning documentation.Lead system impact studies and distributed generation interconnection evaluations.Resolve technical and operational issues related to interconnections and distribution planning activities.Monitor emerging technologies, planning methodologies, and changing load characteristics to improve system reliability and efficiency.Partner with internal leadership, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders on planning initiatives and economic development projects.Lead and develop technical teams while promoting communication, accountability, and continuous improvement.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline required.10+ years of experience within electric utility distribution planning, design, operations, or infrastructure development.5+ years of leadership or technical management experience.Strong knowledge of electric distribution systems, substations, load forecasting, and infrastructure planning.Experience with distributed energy resources, interconnection requirements, and system impact studies.Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards and utility planning requirements.Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills with the ability to interface across technical and executive teams
