GEAR UP Temporary/Part-Time Tutor (Undergraduate Student)
Position OverviewNote: This position is funded through an external grant. Continued employment beyond the fiscal year is contingent upon continued funding.Position Summary:This is a part-time, temporary appointment. The position involves tutoring students in grades 6 thru 12 in a classroom setting and collaborating with faculty. This position reports to the GEAR UP Academic Advisor.Duties and Responsibilities:Promote student success and retention through effective tutoring in English, Mathematics, Science, Health and other academic subjects.Support students across a range of ability levels.Collaborate closely with faculty to support classroom instruction.Facilitate group study sessions.Demonstrate awareness of and responsiveness to the diverse backgrounds and needs of students.Perform other related duties as assigned. RequirementsMinimum Job Requirements:Must have completed 1220 Math, 1120 English, and basic college science or higher.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, email, and Blackboard.Ability to travel within a 50-mile radius.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.Preferred:Candidates with the ability to tutor in multiple subject areas.
