Mechanical Engineer II - Structural EngineerRaytheon is seeking an early career Structural Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test Department. In this role you will get the opportunity to work on products throughout their lifecycle from initial design trade studies and proposals through qualification testing to enduring production support. Engineers will join and learn from a team of 200+ engineers working in all areas of structural engineering, and can expect a wide variety of assignments, from classical stress analyses to cutting edge computer aided analysis methodologies and field test support at locations around the world.What You Will DoPerform detailed structural analyses to support all phases of programsGenerate test plans required to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance to customer requirementsAnalyze test data to validate and correlate models, and/or generate mechanical loads and environmentsWork with experienced analysts on problems of moderate complexity to provide the answers needed under program cost and schedule constraintsCoordinate and lead technical peer reviews ensuring the technical accuracy of work productPresent results to internal stakeholders and external customersGenerate detailed, archival technical reportsTravel to test sites to support test or design discussion (depending on work assignment)The Mechanical Engineer II - Structural Engineer is an onsite position in Tucson, AZ.Qualifications You Must HaveBachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience; Alternatively an advanced degree in a STEM field can be substituted for 2 years experience.Experience in structural analysis with any of the following tools: PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS or equivalent softwareWorking knowledge of mechanical principles to solve classical structural engineering problems both inside and outside of software toolsAbility to work in a collaborative, team-based environment and independentlyAbility to obtain a U.S. government issued security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance, Clearance must be active and transferable prior to start dateQualifications We Prefer5+ years of professional experience in stress/structural analysisExperience in structural testing: planning, organization, execution, data reduction and correlationExperience in structural testing: planning, organization, execution, data reduction and correlationExperience with solid modeling CAD tool such as CREO or equivalentExperience with MatlabExperience presenting to external customersExcellent communication skills; both verbal and writtenAbility to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activitiesAdvanced degree in aforementioned disciplines.
