This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and validating commercial refrigeration systems within a production and service environment. The Refrigeration Repair Technician plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, product quality, and customer satisfaction by accurately identifying failure modes and completing repairs to specification. This position requires strong electrical troubleshooting skills, sealed-system refrigeration expertise, and copper brazing proficiency. Expected Hours of Work: This position is full-time. The general scheduled workdays are Monday through Thursday 10 hour shifts, Overtime may be required based on business needs. Position Overview: The Refrigeration Repair Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and validating commercial refrigeration equipment. This includes diagnosing electrical and refrigeration failures, performing sealed system repairs, brazing copper components, evacuating and recharging systems, and verifying performance to specification. This role also supports quality initiatives by identifying incorrect prior diagnoses, performing root-cause analysis, and helping prevent repeat failures. Responsibilities: Troubleshooting & RepairDiagnose electrical and refrigeration failures in commercial refrigeration equipmentTroubleshoot control boards, sensors, wiring harnesses, valves, and compressor circuitsRepair sealed refrigeration systems including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and metering devicesEvacuate, leak test, and recharge refrigeration systems to specificationVerify system performance and operational compliance after repair Brazing & Refrigerant WorkPerform copper brazing and component replacement on sealed systemsReplace compressors, driers, evaporators, process tubes, and related componentsEnsure proper refrigerant handling in accordance with EPA and company standards Root Cause Analysis & Quality SupportInvestigate repeat failures or previously misdiagnosed repairsDetermine true failure mode versus symptom-based part replacementProvide feedback to improve diagnostic accuracy and prevent recurrenceSupport continuous improvement initiatives within production and service operations Requirements Qualifications: Skills & Competencies:Strong electrical troubleshooting abilityExperience working with sealed refrigeration systemsProficiency in copper brazing techniquesAbility to read wiring diagrams and refrigeration schematicsStrong analytical and root cause problem-solving skillsDetail-oriented with strong documentation habitsAbility to work independently and prioritize tasks Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):EPA Section 608 CertificationHVAC/R Technical Certification or equivalent experienceElectrical troubleshooting certification Physical Requirements:Ability to work in a production and service environmentAbility to lift up to 40-50 lbs occasionallyAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to work with tools, gauges, and diagnostic equipmentTo pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
