This role oversees pre‑suit investigations, case intake, medical record review, document management, and litigation support from initial claim through resolution. The Litigation Paralegal ensures accurate documentation, timely case progression, and effective coordination with internal stakeholders, outside counsel, insurers, and facility leadership. This position is ideal for an experienced healthcare litigation paralegal with strong analytical, organizational, and case‑management skills.QualificationsQualifications Paralegal certification required Bachelor’s degree required Minimum 5 years of healthcare litigation experience required Skilled nursing, long‑term care, or post‑acute litigation experience strongly preferred Notary certification a plus In‑depth knowledge of legal terminology, litigation processes, and civil procedure Strong understanding of federal and state healthcare regulations, including HIPAA/HITECH, fraud and abuse laws, and government healthcare program requirements Ability to manage a high‑volume caseload involving sensitive legal matters Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case‑management systemsEssential Functions Analyze resident medical records, facility documentation, and clinical data to prepare chronologies and identify key witnesses Review billing records and calculate economic damages for litigation evaluation Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and client status reports Conduct early case investigations, including record collection, witness interviews, and evidence preservation Manage pre‑suit matters including demand letters, statutory notices, tolling agreements, and pre‑suit investigations Perform e‑filing with federal and state courts as required Maintain organized litigation case files, medical records, and investigative materials Track litigation deadlines, statutes of limitation, court‑ordered deadlines, and discovery response dates Coordinate with facility leadership, risk management, insurers, and outside counsel on incident reporting and case strategy Prepare drafts of pre‑trial documents including motions, responses, and replies Communicate with witnesses, experts, and outside counsel to support discovery, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation Prepare mediation and settlement documentation Conduct legal research and prepare supporting documents for internal and external use Provide regular case updates to the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel Assist with clerical and administrative tasks necessary to support the Legal Department Perform other duties as assignedWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
