General DescriptionPrepares menu items in accordance with established standards; serves menu itemsattractively, and at proper temperature. Implements proper cleaning and food handlingfor optimal infection control.Essential Duties1. Performs job duties safely as specified in the physical, sensory, and mentalrequirements.2. Reads menus, recipes, and reviews the necessary steps in meal preparation withthe Director of Food & Nutrition Services.3. Prepares menu items in accordance with established standards.4. Determines quantity of food needed in meal preparation.5. Follows established recipes.6. Uses proper food preparation and handling techniques.7. Prepares substitute items to meet resident's individual needs.8. Serves meals using portions listed on menu.9. Covers, dates, and labels leftovers and stores properly.10. Follows established security routine.11. Uses proper infection control techniques and protective equipment as needed.12. Supervises food service staff in absence of Director of Food & Nutrition Servicesor Assistant Director of Food & Nutrition Services.13. Receives and checks deliveries against invoices in absence of Director of Food &Nutrition Services or Assistant Director of Food & Nutrition Services.14. Cleans and maintains the kitchen Facility in a safe and sanitary manner includingfloors, walls, all equipment and utensils.15. Performs dish washing of pots, pans and other designated items.Standard Requirements1. Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of the Facility.2. Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:OSHA and safety, including standard precautions and safe work practices,established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/orcorrect unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.4. Adheres to:a. Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operationsdata.b. HIPAA regulationsc. Quality Assurance requirements and compliance with regulatoryrequirements.d. Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environmentfree from sexual harassment and illegal and discriminatory behavior.e. Code of Conduct and Compliance Program when performing jobfunctions.5. Supports and participates in common teamwork:a. Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plans and completesjob duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriatejudgment.b. Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotionalsituations.c. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residentsregarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.d. Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members andguests.e. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance,uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other workduties as assigned.f. Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates apositive, helpful, and enthusiastic attitude.6. Immediately reports incidents of alleged resident abuse or neglect or allegedviolations of residents' rights to Supervisor or Executive Director.7. Maintains current practice standards or changes by participating in educationalopportunities provided by the Facility and outside resources.Other DutiesPerform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, butwhich may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances. Performsother work duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation/Training: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.HISTORY:(A) 8/2012(B) 11/2016A.D.A ((Americans with Disabilities Act)(as amended)) REQUIREMENTS: Must beable to bend, stoop, push, pull, and walk and stand for most of the working day. Requiresmanual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as fax, telephone,etc. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Must be free from communicablediseases that pose a "direct threat" to the health or safety of others and which cannot beeliminated by a reasonable accommodation. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50pounds, and be able to carry and transport supplies. Must be able to pass a post-offer, preemploymentphysical health examination as a condition of employment. Must be capableof performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonableaccommodation(s).Skill(s): Must possess proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills;proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; decision-making skills, basiccomputer skills; and be able to operate various medical and/or office equipment. Mustdemonstrate knowledge of safety techniques. Must be able to communicate in English,both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform thetasks required.Experience: Prefer experience in food service department, large volume food preparationincluding therapeutic diets, and service of food
