SQL Server Platform Engineer
Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their SQL Server Platform Engineer position! This is a 12-18 month contract opportunity and will be hybrid 3 to 4 days on site in Buffalo, NY or Wilmington, DE.This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services. No C2C or subcontracting arrangements will be considered.What You'll Be Doing:Architect and engineer enterprise-level SQL Server solutions across on-premises and cloud environments, serving as subject matter expert for complex database platform initiativesDeploy and manage SQL Server databases in Microsoft Azure using infrastructure-as-code tools including Ansible and TerraformProvide strategic direction and expert consultation to internal application owners on database design, optimization, and future-state architecture aligned with enterprise goalsLead analysis and implementation of complex database enhancements, migrations, and modernization projects from requirements through production deploymentDesign and recommend optimal database architectures based on business requirements, performance needs, and cloud-first strategiesMentor and develop less experienced database engineers, providing technical guidance and knowledge transfer on best practicesManage vendor relationships and represent the organization at executive advisory boards and industry conferencesTroubleshoot and resolve complex production database issues while ensuring minimal business impact and maintaining high availabilityOversee business continuity, disaster recovery, and audit compliance processes for database platformsCollaborate with Architecture, Application Development teams, and Technology leadership to evaluate new database technologies and establish platform standardsWhat You'll Need to Have:This is a senior level role and requires senior-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server engineering and administration across enterprise environmentsStrong proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools, specifically Ansible and Terraform for database deployment and configuration managementDemonstrated experience engineering and managing databases in Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL Database and related platform servicesProven ability to design, implement, and optimize complex database solutions for both on-premises and cloud environmentsExperience leading multiple concurrent projects of varying complexity, including large-scale system enhancements, migrations, and conversionsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate business requirements into technical database solutionsStrong communication and presentation skills with ability to serve as trusted advisor to technical and business stakeholdersPay Range: $65-75+/hrQuestions about any of our jobs?
