Emergency Department RN – Night Shift (Contract)Pay Range: $55–$60/hr Shift: Nights – 3×12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) Contract Length: 13 Weeks Start Date: 4/21 Only (all other start dates will be redirected) Location: Durhan, NCPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse for a high-acuity ED setting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to perform in fast-paced environments, and comfort managing diverse patient populations across trauma, medical, and psychiatric presentations.RequirementsMinimum Experience: 2 years Trauma Experience: Level II Trauma required; Level I Trauma preferredCertifications Required:ACLSBLSPALSTNCC (preferred or required depending on profile)CPI (preferred; can be completed onsite if needed)Licensure: Active Compact or State license in hand at submissionCharting: Epic experience requiredFirst-Time Travelers: AcceptedUnit DetailsRatios: 1:4Float Requirement: May float to ED Observation UnitWeekend Requirement: Every other weekendInterviews: Phone interview with unit teamFlu Vaccine: Required; no exemptions acceptedCOVID Vaccine: Not requiredPatient PopulationCovers all ages including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Common presentations include:Chest painAbdominal painAltered mental statusSickle cell crisesFalls & orthopedic injuriesAcute psychosis, violent behavior, overdoseTrauma-related injuries (gunshot wounds, amputations, TBIs, spinal injuries)Unit Composition & CapacityTotal Beds: 75Breakdown:55 acute care ED beds4 resuscitation rooms11 pediatric rooms5 triage/MSE spacesDaily Visits: Approx. 237Interdisciplinary Support: RadiologyRespiratoryPharmacyInterpretation servicesRequired SkillsCandidates must have proven competency in:Dysrhythmia interpretation & managementBlood product administrationArterial line managementCentral line careIV vasopressors, paralytics, sedationProcedural sedation monitoringChest tube managementABG interpretationBiPAP/CPAP managementMulti‑system organ failure managementPsych/behavioral emergency careStroke & STEMI protocolsTrauma care & resuscitation*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
