This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that's constantly evolving.Main responsibilities:* Lead and oversee daily operations of the Grocery Department (including dairy, frozen, and liquor/beer), ensuring sales and profit objectives are achieved.* Direct overall store operations in the absence of the Store Director, including supervising department managers and store employees.* Champion and model exceptional customer service, fostering a customer-first culture across the storePlan, organize, and monitor department operations, including product quality, inventory levels, pricing accuracy, and merchandising standards.Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, security, and company policies and procedures.Manage inventory, ordering, shrink control, and physical inventory counts.Hire, train, schedule, and develop employees, while monitoring performance and recommending personnel actions.Analyze financial performance (P&L, sales, labor) and implement plans to drive profitability and sales growth.Maintain effective vendor relationships and resolve customer concerns in a professional manner.We are looking for candidates who possess the following:* Soft skills:*Strong customer service orientation* Excellent communication (verbal and written)* Leadership and team motivation skills* Interpersonal and relationship-building abilities* Problem-solving and decision-making skills* Ability to handle conflict and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment* Competencies:*Retail operations management* Team leadership and performance management* Financial and business acumen (including P&L management)* Inventory and merchandising management* Compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations* Strategic thinking and planning (short- and long-term)* Knowledge:*Retail grocery operations and merchandising practices* Company policies, procedures, and operational standards* Employment laws and workplace practices* Inventory control, pricing, and shrink management* Basic math, accounting, and computer systems* State and federal regulatory requirements* Profit and loss statements and financial reporting* Abilities:*Ability to lead and manage a diverse team across multiple departments* Ability to analyze business performance and take corrective action* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment* Ability to identify opportunities and implement operational improvements* Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays* Ability to perform occasional physical tasks (lifting up to ~50 lbs., standing for long periods, operating equipment)* Educational requirements:*High school diploma or equivalent required* Additional education in business, retail management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)* Extensive retail experience with prior management responsibility required* Travel requirements:* Occasional travel may be required, including overnight travel* Other requirements:*
