Sr. Planning Analyst, CID Financial
OverviewThe Senior Planning Analyst within the Construction Project Management Office of Capital Infrastructure Delivery (CID) will conduct financial analyses on large-scale capital infrastructure projects from planning to close out, partnering with CID, FP&A and SSO to ensure each project is delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. This role requires maintaining compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols. The Senior Planning Analyst will partner with FP&A, Substation Operations (SSO) and CID Construction Management to develop, track, and monitor current working estimates (CWEs) for various projects within CID and Substation Operations capital and retirement portfolios, as well as validating the monthly accruals. This role will also identify improvement opportunities through data-led analyses and influence customers to implement the opportunities.This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.ResponsibilitiesCore ResponsibilitiesCreate and present Current Working Estimates for CID related Capital Projects.Partner with CID Construction Project Management Office and Construction to develop, track, and monitor current working estimates for various projects within SSOs capital and retirement portfolios, as well as validating the monthly accruals.Identify improvement opportunities through data-led analyses and influence customers to implement the opportunities. Enter budget information into the budget system. (e.g., Oracle ePBCS). Support the budget development process, particularly with the quantification of the work plan (e.g., unit cost trend analysis).Support and lead financial forecasting processes with analyses using relevant systems/tools and enter forecast information into the associated system. Validate capital and O&M forecast information.Attend key customer meetings, challenge forecast assumptions and provide recommendations for improvement.Communicate monthly performance to customers and track financial performance KPIs.Lead spend driver tracking through maintenance, analysis, and communication of weekly data.Perform ongoing analysis of accrual submissions of all types, along with associated payments.Assist in rate case filings and regulatory reporting and help prepare relevant documentation.Perform additional tasks when necessary to support the organization and the company.Maintain on-site field and office presence to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure accurate financial performance, as needed.Participate in annual capital optimization and governance process.QualificationsRequired Education/ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 3 years of related experience within a corporate environment orMaster's Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field and 2 years of relatedexperience including at least 1 year within a corporate environmentPreferred Education/ExperienceMaster's Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 2 years work experience including at least 1 year within a corporate environmentRelevant Work ExperienceAt least 2 years of Financial Planning & Analysis related experience, required. Demonstrated strong quantitative and presentation skills, required.Understanding of accounting principles and capital project estimates (e.g., income statement, balance sheet), required. Demonstrated strategic, critical thinking capabilities and proactive qualities, required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams), required. Ability to communicate and apply best practices to continuously improve project outcomes, required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team, and exercise emotional intelligence, discretion and sound judgment, required.Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making, required. Familiarity with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx), preferred.
