Journeyman Electrician

Journeyman Electrician, part time Primary Work Location:  Central Coast of California - Santa Maria to San Miguel About Borders Electric:  Founded in 2021, Borders Electric LLC is a C10 licensed Electrical Contracting company based out of Atascadero, California. Work is performed in a variety of settings including residential, commercial, electrical sub-stations, solar farms, and other industrial environments. Safety, communication, and quality are foundational to our business. Taking the time to safely perform work to a high degree of quality, asking questions when necessary, and openly communicating our concerns respectfully is how we operate.   Position Summary: This position is for a part time licensed Journeyman Electrician. Following a 90 day probationary period, transition to full time may be considered. Position is paid at an hourly rate between $29 to $49 and is heavily dependent upon previous experience.  Although this position is for local work near Atascadero, some work may be offered out of town. Out of town work is not a requirement of this job position. Out of town work pays per diem and is based on job zip code. Typical per diem range is roughly $180 to $211 per worked day. If a personal vehicle is used, mileage is reimbursed monthly at the federal rate (currently $0.725 per mile). Following the 90 day probationary period, a vehicle with company logo (small work van or equivalent) may be provided outfitted with necessary tooling and storage.  As needed, an apprentice or other journeyman electrician will assist with jobs requiring more than one person to safely complete.  Responsibilities: With little to no oversight, plan, bid, and install to the CEC the following: Hot tub and A/C disconnects, conduit (EMT and/or PVC), associated wiring, trenching to the appropriate depth, overcurrent protective devices Residential Electric Vehicle Service Equipment Residential Main Service Panel upgrades or like-for-like panel changes Residential sub-panels Installing backboards in vineyards, farms, or other unique settings Residential and commercial electrical troubleshooting and repair. Coordinate main service panel upgrades or change outs with utility using utilities online portal.  Install to plan residential solar and battery storage systems. Residential service calls, additions, and remodels.  Qualifications: Minimum: California Licensed Journeyman Electrician. Ability to perform “Responsibilities” with little oversight or direction.  Desired: 5 years licensed as a California Journeyman Electrician.  Ability to perform “Responsibilities” with no oversight or direction.  Experience with solar photovoltaic farms, substations, and other industrial settings.
