Job Description Job SummaryUnder general supervision, the Sales Lead plays a vital role in achieving the sales goals of the business unit by planning, coordinating, and managing all store operations while providing high-level customer service support. This position focuses on ensuring exceptional customer service, meeting and exceeding annual sales goals, managing inventory shrinkage, and maintaining a high quality of work life. West Marine is a Drug-Free Workplace and an Equal Opportunity Employer.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesGuide and develop Crew Members for excellent store operations and customer serviceLead by example, greeting and engaging customers to fulfill their boating needsEffectively prioritize and plan to drive results and meet business goalsTrain Crew Members to handle various transactions and provide exceptional serviceRecruit, onboard, and train high-performing Crew MembersManage Omni-Fulfillment operationsDuties/ResponsibilitiesAssist in implementing store strategies to meet or exceed annual sales and contribution goalsWork with the team to grow wholesale business and market share through planning and goal settingEnsure the store and staff exemplify our brand and service, adhering to promotional programs and proper display of sale itemsActively participate in and coach the team on programs and procedures that drive salesMaintain a neat, clean, and organized store while complying with safety and Asset Protection standardsDevelop strategies to achieve West Advantage membership and Private Label penetration goalsOversee front-end activities, including greeting customers, processing transactions, and managing add-on salesProvide high-level customer support with expertise in boating products, building and maintaining customer relationshipsRecommend additional items and services that complement customer needsAccurately manage register transactions and handle returns/complaints graciouslyComplete and distribute tasks from Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Master ChecklistsEnsure compliance with legal requirements and store policies to maintain stability and reputationVerify that Asset Protection standards are metProtect Crew Members and customers by ensuring a safe and clean store environmentMaintain professional knowledge through company and industry-sponsored trainingAvailable to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidaysServe as "Manager on Duty" during assigned shiftsPerform other job-related responsibilities as assignedAdditional Duties May IncludeEnsure accuracy through perpetual counts, cycle counts, product receiving, RTVs, damages, and truck put awayManage pricing, execute price changes, and conduct price auditsPlan and execute merchandising resets and maintain Planogram (POG) integrityManage supply orders while adhering to budget standardsDrive clearance execution strategy and sell-throughEnsure payroll is processed accurately and on timeMaintain operations by coordinating and enforcing operational and personnel policiesRequired Skills/AbilitiesStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent sales and customer service abilitiesAttention to detail and strong organizational skillsProven ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectivelyStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesEffective supervisory and leadership skillsAbility to prioritize and delegate tasks appropriatelyProficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalentTwo years of related experience preferredPhysical RequirementsContinuous standing and walking throughout the retail spaceAbility to wear and communicate through a headset continuouslyFrequent climbing, bending, stooping, and twistingOccasionally operate equipment, including forkliftsMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds to shoulder height unassisted frequentlyOther Requirements• Minimum age of 18 years oldWest Marine offers a wide range of benefits, which include medical/dental/vision, various voluntary benefits, 401k, and paid time off.
