If you're looking to make an impact where it matters most—this is the place, and now is the time.Role Overview:The Director of Downtown Operations leads DTSF’s Downtown Operations and Place Management Program, ensuring Downtown Sioux Falls remains clean, welcoming, safe, responsive, and professionally maintained through strong systems, leadership, operational planning, and team development. This role is responsible for the long-term success, structure, accountability, and continuous improvement of the organization’s most visible operational service.The Director oversees operational systems, staffing strategy, budget management, safety and compliance programs, training standards, asset management, vendor relationships, and service performance across the district. This role develops and supports frontline leadership while ensuring the Operations Department operates with professionalism, consistency, responsiveness, visibility, and pride at all levels.Key Responsibilities:Develop and manage operational systems, training programs, SOPs, and safety/compliance standards.Lead staffing strategy, scheduling oversight, workforce planning, and operational accountability across the department.Oversee department budget, asset management, vendor relationships, purchasing, and resource allocation.Establish and maintain service, safety, hospitality, appearance, and performance standards across Downtown Operations.Develop frontline leadership, monitor operational performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement throughout the department.Core Performance Expectations:Safety incidents are proactively reduced through documented training and enforcementTeam schedules are published and maintained consistentlyOperational issues are identified and resolved proactivelyAssets, vehicles, and equipment are maintained to professional standardsBudget variances are monitored monthly and communicated proactivelyTeam members consistently meet appearance, professionalism, and service expectationsDowntown operations function with minimal executive interventionQualifications5+ years of operations, facilities, hospitality, public works, or team leadership experienceDemonstrated experience leading teams and building operational systemsExperience managing budgets, vendors, projects, and schedulingStrong written communication, organizational, and technology skillsAbility to analyze operations and improve efficiency and accountabilityExperience with training, compliance, and workplace safety preferredValid driver’s license requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to move throughout Downtown Sioux Falls regularlyAbility to occasionally lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 poundsAbility to work outdoors in varying seasonal weather conditions for limited periodsAbility to operate computers, tablets, and mobile devices for extended periodsAbility to attend events and operational activities requiring standing and walking for extended periodsBenefits:Health Insurance (Single Plan covered 100% by Employer)Paid Time Off (20 days annually)Holiday Time Off (12 days annually)SafeHarbor 401k with 4% Company MatchDental & Vision Insurance (Employee Paid)Monthly Cell Phone Stipend or Company Provided PhoneParking Pass or Parking Spaces Provided#hc246198
