The Director of Transportation works under the direction of the Executive Director of Foundational Support, to lead the department's commitment to transport students safely and efficiently inside and outside Highline School District boundaries. As the Director of Transportation, this position is designed to establish and develop operational systems and solutions for safe and effective operations.The ideal candidate brings a strong leadership foundation, ensuring clear systems and structures to support staff across the department to fulfill the department's key function: safe and efficient access to learning environments. They maintain knowledge of state and federal school transportation laws and a strong understanding of the rules and regulations governing budgeting including McKinney-Vento and foster programs. They have experience in personnel management including staff development, labor relations and collective bargaining compliance. The successful candidate has strong communication skills and demonstrates ability to build successful working relationships with staff, parents, and students, supporting a linguistically and ethnically diverse community. They directly supervise and evaluate staff and are committed to building a strong workplace culture of belonging as they lead recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce in alignment with the beliefs and policies of the district.Please note the following hiring timeline: This position will close at 11:30pm on May 13th. HR minimum qualification screening and district phone screening will take place on a rolling basis through May 18th, followed by site-base screening. Interviews will be conducted in person, targeting the week of May 25th.
