Job DescriptionGuthrie is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Chief of Radiation Oncology to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership across our Cancer Care service line. This is a unique opportunity for a physician leader passionate about program growth, clinical excellence, and system-wide standardization.Position OverviewThe Chief of Radiation Oncology will play a critical leadership role in advancing Guthrie's Radiation Oncology service line. The ideal candidate will bring a clear strategic vision, strong operational expertise, and a collaborative leadership style to help define and grow a potential Center of Excellence. This role will focus on expanding advanced treatment capabilities, strengthening multidisciplinary partnerships, and driving quality and patient satisfaction across the system.Were glad you are interested in joining our team.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership for Radiation Oncology across the Guthrie systemDevelop and execute service-line growth initiatives, including expansion of advanced technologies (e.g., SRS capability at the Corning site)Standardize clinical practices and workflows to ensure high-quality, consistent careLead quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiativesCollaborate closely with Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiology, and executive leadershipSupport physician and staff recruitment, retention, and professional developmentEnsure strong operational oversight of Radiation Oncology servicesLeadership & Reporting Structure Reports directly to a new Cancer Care Service Line Leader, offering direct executive-level representationJoins an established and supportive Cancer Care service-line infrastructureWorks with a stable clinical team, including experienced dosimetrists, physicists, RNs, and administrative staffLocation & Coverage Primary location: Corning, NYMay include travel and/or rotation to other Guthrie cancer centers to provide leadership support and clinical stabilitySchedule & FTEPotential schedule of 4 days per week / 10-hour daysDedicated administrative and clinical timeAdministrative time included, with potential for expanded leadership allocationExperience & Qualifications Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical experience in Radiation OncologyPrior leadership experience strongly preferred (e.g., Medical Director, Site Director)Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage operations, and drive strategic initiativesStrong communication skills and commitment to team-based, patient-centered careTechnology & Facilities Corning: Trilogy; CT Simulation; TruBeam planned for Fall 2026Cortland: TruBeamLourdes: TruBeam iX (replacement planned for 2027)Sayre: New Edge CT; iXWhy Guthrie Integrated, physician-led health system with strong Cancer Care collaborationOpportunity to shape the future of Radiation Oncology across a growing systemSupportive leadership environment with a focus on innovation, quality, and patient experienceLocated in the scenic Finger Lakes region with excellent quality of lifeAbout the Community:Home to 10,500 residents, Corning has been described as one of "America's best small towns."
