This role manages day‑to‑day accounting, month‑end close, financial reporting, and process improvements while supervising the Accounting Specialist.The qualified candidate will be a hands‑on Accounting Manager with strong construction accounting experience to oversee the company’s financial operations and support business functions. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast‑growing environment and wants to step into a future Controller role.Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000 DOE + Discretionary Bonus100% onsiteFlexible start time as early as 7:00 amKey ResponsibilitiesOversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll coordination, and supervision of the Accounting Specialist.Manage month‑end close, general ledger accuracy, reconciliations, and variance analysis.Maintain clean, organized financial records and strong checks and balances.Implement and refine processes for job costing and construction‑related accounting workflows.Prepare and deliver financial statements, reporting packages, and insights to leadership.Monitor cash flow, expenses, and overall financial performance.Serve as the primary point of contact for auditors and tax partners.Partner with CPA/bookkeeper on financial reporting, tax filings, and compliance.Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.Support business operations through system optimization and process development.Manage vendor relationships, including CPA firms.Develop and maintain internal procedures, documentation, and operational standards.Provide reporting and operational insights to support leadership decision‑making.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.5–10 years of progressive accounting experience.Construction accounting experience required.Strong understanding of GAAP, month‑end close, GL management, variance analysis, and job costing.Knowledge of California and Federal compliance requirements.Experience in small to mid‑sized companies with broad, hands‑on responsibilities.High level of organization, accuracy, and accountability.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with leadership.Proficiency with QuickBooks.
