As part of ScionHealth, Vaughan combines system strength with strong local impact so that you can make your mark where your work truly matters.Job SummaryThe Plant Operations II General Maintenance Operative performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair duties to support safe, efficient operation of the facility’s systems and infrastructure. Building upon entry-level experience, this role includes routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, assistance with mechanical and utility systems, and support of skilled trades. The Operative works under moderate supervision and is expected to demonstrate initiative, reliability, and an increasing level of technical competence.Essential FunctionsPerforms routine inspections and preventive maintenance of basic building systems and equipmentAssists with minor repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry componentsOperates facility vehicles and equipment such as pallet jacks, snowplows, and utility cartsMonitors facility systems and reports abnormal conditions or failures to supervisory staffHelps maintain safe and clean mechanical, electrical, and utility areasTransports tools, materials, and equipment to support maintenance or construction projectsResponds to routine work orders and assists skilled technicians with intermediate-level tasksCompletes documentation, logs, and checklists to track maintenance activityKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsBasic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systemsAbility to use hand and power tools safely and correctlyComfortable working around mechanical systems and in utility areasFollows safety regulations including PPE use and lockout/tagout proceduresGood communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructionsDemonstrates initiative, reliability, and eagerness to expand skill setFrequent walking, standing, kneeling, lifting up to 75 lbs, and climbing laddersRegular use of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipmentOccasional exposure to electrical panels, chemicals, dust, noise, and temperature extremesVisual and auditory capacity to monitor alarms and observe equipment operationParticipates in safety drills, team meetings, and training activitiesReports unsafe conditions and participates in maintaining a safe work environmentMaintains professional behavior, attendance, and compliance with department protocolsQualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role.
