This role leads a team handling claim submission through payment reconciliation, effectively managing relationships with external payers. The right candidate is highly resourceful with a growth mindset, strong leadership skills, and entrepreneurial drive. You will have autonomy and authority over your department's functions and be accountable to the COO. This is not simply executing existing SOPs. What You'll DoLead and build a team of Billing Specialists which generates and submits medical billing claims (HCFA/CMS-1500) to insurance carriers, tracks payments, handles claim denials, and supports basic bookkeeping functionsDevelop relationships with insurance carriers and resolve billing inquiriesCoordinate with the Scheduling department on billing needs when they onboard new doctor clients joining our network, ensuring a high level of customer serviceServe as the primary billing point of contact for our doctor clientsCollaborate with company executives and influence how the company operates, finding strategic ways to work smarterWhat We're Looking For4+ years in medical billingExcellent leadership and organizational skills; experience training and supervising a teamExperience with denial management and appeals processesStrong communication and interpersonal skills via phone and text messagingProficiency with Google Workspace and case management platformsDetail-oriented with high emotional intelligenceDetailsReports to: Chief Operating OfficerLocation: Hybrid remote between our Austin office and home after initial 6-month periodEmployment type: Hourly, 30+ hours/week with overtime availableCompensation: More than $30/hour, commensurate with experience
