The Nuclear Engineer Supervisor role encompasses leadership, technical excellence, and operational execution, while fostering a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and the ideal staff member experience. Oversees the efforts for various aspects of nuclear engineering related to Radioisotope Production including:Accelerator target design and operation; isotope production target design, operation, and handling; nuclear measurements; radiation shielding; radioactive material handling; critical utilities handling radioactive materialLeads day-to-day technical execution of the nuclear engineering teamSupports cGMP readiness and process qualification for radioisotope manufacturing productionCollaborates with various teams (Production, Quality, R&D, etc.) to ensure successful implementation of process improvementsConducts troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production and MS&T issues.Maintain compliance with all cGMP and radiation safety proceduresSupports preparation and review of technical documentation including SOPs, batch records, process descriptions, and validation protocolsSets KPIs, communicates key program updates, and drives improvements in quality, safety, and productivity to ensure KPIs are metLeads all operational efforts and identifies process improvements to increase efficiency and support strategic growthLeads and inspires a diverse team of skilled professionalsWhat You Need To Succeed… Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Nuclear Engineering or related field8+ years of nuclear engineering experience including hands-on experience with the following:fundamental concepts in nuclear engineering including: radiation transport, radiation detection methods, radiation interactions with matter, and thermal hydraulics.research reactor neutronics, thermal-hydraulics, monitoring and controls, or auxiliary systemscommon spectroscopy setups (alpha, beta, gamma, neutron) and ability to detect, identify, and quantify radioactive materialsreactor or accelerator benchmarking or measurement experimentshandling open and sealed radioactive sourcesworking in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably NRC or FDA3+ years of supervisory experience including day-to-day activities of a team of 6 or more with demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams, establish career development tracks, and succession planningEmbraces and models the Niowave Core Values of Teamwork, Courage, Integrity, and Upright ZealDevelops and maintains good relationships, gains the confidence of others, and works effectively in a multidisciplinary matrix environmentUnderstands how to integrate into a new team/organizationAppreciates the current state of systems and processes and exercises sound judgment in proposing and implementing improvementsUnderstands personal communication and learning styles and adapts approach to connect effectively with othersDisplays excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skillsPossesses strong organizational and project management skills for self and teamsPossesses a strong interest and ability to lead and develop staff members and teamsDemonstrates strategic thinking with creative and excellent problem solving and decision-making skills with ability to critically interpret and use data to manage riskGreat to have…Master’s degree or PhD in Nuclear Engineering or related field12+ years of nuclear engineering experience5+ years of nuclear engineering knowledge for accelerator development/operationsHands-on experience utilizing lean manufacturing principles for continuous process improvements and/or certification (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S)5+ years of supervisory experience including day-to-day activities of a team of 8 or more with demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams, establish career development tracks, and succession planningOther Things To Know…Full-time positionThe company’s standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shiftsThis position will have regular working hours Monday - Friday within the standard operating hoursThere is an expectation of adjusting working hours outside the standard hours to meet operational requirementsNiowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area and travel between locations is expected in the rolePlease provide a cover letter specifically describing the nature of your background and experience as it relates to this position.
