EVS Tech Part-Time (Evenings)

Brief DescriptionThe Environmental Services (EVS) Technician plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and infection-free environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, operating rooms, clinical areas, offices, and public spaces in accordance with hospital policies, infection-control standards, and regulatory requirements. Responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness throughout the hospital, clinics and office areas preventing cross infection, minimizing airborne bacteria and ensuring an aseptic environment. EVS Techs support patient care by ensuring rapid room turnover and maintaining adequate supplies. Works as part of the Laundry Team, collecting, washing and processing clean linen for distribution to all user departments.This is shift is Monday - Friday, Part-Time, EveningsRequirements Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Duties/ResponsibilitiesInclude the following. Other duties may be assigned. Clean and disinfect patient rooms, exam rooms, ORs, restrooms, hallways, offices and common areas based on specific area detailed instructions. Perform routine, terminal, and discharge cleaning following hospital protocols. Use proper aseptic techniques and follow infection-control procedures. Handle cleaning chemicals safely and according to SDS guidelines. Support rapid turnover between patients or surgical cases. Restock supplies and ensure assigned areas are fully equipped. Report maintenance or safety issues promptly. Collect, transport, and restock clean linens; remove soiled linens per protocol. Dispose of regular and biohazard waste according to hospital policy. Safely operate floor scrubbers, vacuums, carpet extractor, steam cleaner, trash/utility cards, wall washing systems and other specialized cleaning equipment. Maintain equipment cleanliness and report malfunctions. Interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff. Maintain confidentiality and uphold hospital values. Collaborate with nursing, surgery, and other departments to meet cleaning needs. Works as part of the laundry team, collecting and washing and processing clean linen for distribution to all user departments. Able to operate commercial washers and dryers Complete required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances. Comply with use of proper cleaning chemicals per surface being cleaned. Follow and use manufacturer’s recommendations per cleaning surface. Monitors inventory and notify supervisors of potential shortages before they happen.
