SAP ABAP Technical Lead – S/4HANA UpgradeAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Technical Lead to drive and oversee a large-scale ECC to SAP S/4HANA On-Premise conversion. In this client-facing leadership role, you will serve as the technical authority for ABAP development and custom code remediation, ensuring all upgrade activities align with S/4HANA and HANA best practices.You will combine hands-on technical execution with governance responsibilities, including SPAU/SPDD adjustments, ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) oversight, code remediation strategy, and detailed ABAP code quality reviews. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in a high-impact enterprise transformation.What You’ll Do:Lead ABAP technical governance for an ECC to S/4HANA Brownfield conversion.Review and validate S/4HANA Readiness Check 2.0 outputs and simplification item impacts.Configure and manage ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) for custom code analysis and remediation.Define and oversee custom code remediation strategies (remediate, retire, replace, redesign).Perform and own SPAU/SPDD adjustments during upgrade cycles.Partner with Basis and technical teams to support upgrade planning, landscape readiness, and environment validation (Sandbox, Dev, QA, Prod).Review and approve remediated code and transports delivered by implementation partners.Conduct ABAP code reviews to ensure S/4HANA optimization and HANA performance standards.Promote HANA-optimized development approaches including CDS Views, AMDP, and code pushdown.Support testing, defect resolution, performance tuning, and post-go-live stabilization.Minimum Requirements:12+ years of SAP ABAP development experience.Proven experience leading ECC to S/4HANA system conversions (Brownfield).Hands-on expertise with SPAU/SPDD adjustments.Strong experience configuring and using ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC).Experience with S/4HANA Readiness Check 2.0 and Simplification Item analysis.Deep expertise in custom code adaptation/remediation for S/4HANA.Strong knowledge of ABAP on HANA performance optimization, including CDS Views and AMDP.Experience reviewing and approving ABAP code, transports, and remediation quality.Strong debugging and performance tuning experience using tools such as ST05, SAT, and SQL Monitor.Experience collaborating with System Integrators during S/4HANA upgrades.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with SAP Fiori and OData development.Knowledge of SUM with DMO upgrade methodology.Experience with Solution Manager ChaRM and transport management.Familiarity with SAP Migration Cockpit (LTMC/LTMOM).Experience supporting post-go-live stabilization and SPAU cleanup.Why Join Us?Be a key technical leader in a strategic SAP S/4HANA transformation, influencing architecture, code quality, and enterprise modernization while working alongside senior technical and business stakeholders.Ready to lead a high-impact S/4HANA conversion?
