Field Service Operations Manager

Our client does engineering and design for custom transformer and switchgear product development alongside extensive field service and motor repair. Responsibilities Personnel Development – Plan, select, appraise and appropriately staff the facility in accordance with business needs and performance. Orient & Train – Identifies appropriate orientation and training for new and established employees, and establishes procedures to ensure such training takes place. Assign work – Assign duties and direct employees, explaining how those duties are to be done (i.e. what level of performance will meet expectations) and communicate how the successful performance of those duties will be measured. Primary functions include planning and scheduling all resources required per services requested. Compiles, reviews, and approves hourly timesheets and expenses on a weekly basis. Communication – Communicate and coordinate all internal and external resources and customers per the requirements of the services requested. Provide 24/7/365 availability, or schedule backup as required to support service technicians and customer needs. Reports – Complete, review, and interpret test reports. Reviews service reports and directs the resolution of operational, service, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and reduced delays. Metric/KPIs – Establish and maintain processes and/or performance measures for efficient use of materials/ processes/ labor to achieve optimum results. Company Policy – Assists in the development of company policy, as well as assure compliance to established policies. Morale – Maintain positive morale through communication, actions, and positive use of site assets. Continuous Process Improvement – Working with other departments, vendors, and other SWE locations, monitors/ evaluates/ revises processes and procedures to assure a culture of continuous improvement. Maintain a Safe Work Environment –Managers are responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment through the effective implementation of engineered safeguards and safety training. Other Duties – Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises and directs field service technicians. Performs periodic performance reviews with direct reports. Implements merit increase plans as required. Requirements Minimum of 3 years operational experience in a field service environment as a team or crew leader. AA degree from technical school or BS degree from accredited University or 10 years supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Legally authorized to work in the United States on an on-going basis without company sponsorship. Working Environment: Generally, in a field service environment. This position requires frequent walking visits (2/3 of the time) to work areas, both indoors and outdoors. Occasionally, employee will be required to climb on ladders, normally for the purpose of inspecting work or collecting information. Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
