Our teams are proudly ranked first amongst their peers and are all dedicated toward our core mission of providing our clients and partners with the necessary data, market access, and financing options to help them succeed in the new energy transition.The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in supporting Karbone’s growing trading platform, partnering closely with front-office, risk, and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting across physical and financial commodity transactions. The role offers meaningful exposure to renewable energy and environmental markets, hands-on ownership of core accounting functions, and the opportunity to contribute to system enhancements and new product initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Responsibilities:Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results with analysis and commentaryPrepare and support GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reportingOwn the day-to-day reconciliation and reporting of trading activitiesWork closely with trading, risk, and operations’ teams to ensure accurate trade entry, settlement, and reportingReview and analyze trading P&L, including mark-to-market and realized vs. unrealized resultsSupport accounting for physical and financial commodities, structured transactions, and hedging activitiesEnsure accurate revenue recognition, accruals, and expense matching tied to trading activityStrengthen internal controls and scalable accounting processesSupport external audits, tax reporting, and regulatory requirements as applicableDrive system enhancements and automation initiatives across ERP and ETRM platformsProvide ad hoc financial analysis to support new products, markets, and strategic initiativesQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CFA preferred or in progress)4+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within energy trading / commoditiesStrong understanding of commodity trading P&L, derivatives, accruals, and settlementsExperience with ETRM and/or ERP systemsAdvanced Excel skills; comfort working with large data setsDetail-oriented, proactive team player with strong analytical skillsAbility to manage conflicting priorities of multiple parties and ability to operate independentlyAbility to communicate complex issues in an easily understood manner
