Collect patient and insurance information essential for cleanclaims billing, collect patient co-payments and cost share, verifyinsurance eligibility, process admissions, transfers and discharges.Provide required patient and transfer information to medical staff andenter into the electronic medical record. Obtain patient signatures onhospital, clinic, and CMS-required forms. Greets patients and visitorsin a friendly and courteous manner. Demonstrates respect andunderstanding of confidentiality for patients, staff and others.Maintains HIPAA Privacy Standards and follows all clinic and hospitalspolicy and procedures, as well as federal and state regulationsgoverning the registration process.**Essential Job Functions:** Register and direct patients through the Emergency Department,outpatient, and clinic registration areas of all hospital and cliniclocations. Collect demographic and insurance information at the point ofservice Verify insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing. For uninsured patients, refer to Financial Counseling to identifyand link potential payer coverage. Collects pre-arranged or self-pay deposits, and point of servicecopayments Obtain patient signature on all required registration forms (i.e.,Consent, Health Risk Assessments, And Other CMS-required Forms). Scan insurance and identification cards into the Electronic MedicalRecord. Communicate to clinical departments the patient information relevantto patient advocacy and care, as obtained through the registrationprocess. Provides excellent customer service and supports the patientExperience Completes mandatory training A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures withinthe Patient Access industry Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned Performs other related duties as assigned Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information atall times. Follows HIPAA regulations and policies. Communicates with patients, physicians, families and co-workers inperson and on telephone. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. **Minimum Qualifications:** High School diploma or equivalent preferred Minimum of 1 year customer service preferred One year of experience and/or education in front office proceduresPreferred Proficient in business office practices and computer applications Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills, with afocus on customer service and the patient experience. Knowledge of current government and commercial payers and paymentmethodologies. Prior medical office and/or hospital business office experiencehighly desirable Basic medical terminology preferred Ability to adapt to a rapidly growing and changing work environment**Work Environment:** St Mary\'s and Clearwater Valley Health operates 24 hours per dayeach day of the year; operational needs of departments may requirethat you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays tomeet the needs of the patients. St. Mary\'s and Clearwater Valley Health Clinic locations haveroperation hours based on locations and patient needs thereforeavailability to work all clinic shifts, weekends and holidays asappropriate for location will be expected and required. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environme t. **Physical Requirements:** Majority of shift spent sitting No or very limited physical effort required.
