Position:Licensed Practical Nurse 1:1 Position Type: Full Time - 10 month position Location: Early Childhood Development Center - Oak Street Reports to:: Building Principal Salary: As per FEA ESP Contract General Description: The Franklin Public Schools, a Prek-12 district, is seeking a skilled and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to work at Franklin High School. Essential Responsibilities: Under the supervision and consultation of the School Nurse the LPN will: Health Monitoring and Seizure ManagementContinuously monitor the student for signs and symptoms of seizure activity throughout the school day and during transportation.Implement the seizure action plan, including timing, documentation, and emergency response procedures.Administer prescribed emergency seizure medication per physician order and protocol.Notify the School Nurse, Nurse Leader, and/or emergency medical services (EMS) as indicated.Airway Management and SuctioningMonitor respiratory status and provide suctioning as needed according to physician orders and training.Maintain suction equipment in clean and working condition.Document frequency and effectiveness of suctioning interventions.Medication AdministrationAdminister prescribed daily and emergency medications in accordance with district policy and physician orders.Maintain secure storage and transport of medications and supplies.Accurately document all medication administration and health interventions.Gastrostomy (G-Tube) Care and FeedingAdminister G-tube feedings, water flushes, and medications as ordered.Observe for and report any signs of intolerance, leakage, or infection at the G-tube site.Maintain cleanliness and proper handling of feeding equipment.Transportation MonitoringProvide medical supervision during transportation to and from school, ensuring safety and readiness to respond to medical needs.Carry necessary medical supplies and emergency medications in compliance with district and nursing protocols.Communicate with transportation staff to ensure coordinated emergency response procedures.Document any health events or interventions occurring during transport.Collaboration and CommunicationCommunicate regularly with the School Nurse, Nurse Leader, and educational staff regarding the student's health status.Participate in team meetings and assist in updating the student's IHCP and Emergency Care Plan (ECP).Maintain professional, collaborative communication with staff, families, and healthcare providers as appropriate. Documentation and ComplianceComplete daily health logs and incident reports per school nursing procedures.Adhere to all confidentiality requirements under HIPAA and FERPA.Follow safety, infection control, and district nursing protocols at all times.Additional DutiesAccompany the student throughout the school day, including classroom activities, specials, lunch, and recess, as appropriate.Provide first aid or other health support as needed under the direction of the School Nurse.Perform other related nursing duties as assigned to support the student's well-being and educational participation.Qualifications:Hold a valid LPN License in the State of MassachusettsExperience working with children and youth is preferredMust successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).We understand that our collective success depends on the robust exchange of ideas-an exchange that is best when the rich diversity of our perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences flourishes.
