General/Corporate Counsel

MatX is hiring an attorney to be our go-to legal partner. You'll work directly with leadership to handle contracts, manage risk, and build the legal infrastructure we need as we scale. The role involves liaising with outside counsel, owning vendor management, and providing practical legal guidance across governance, IP, employment, and regulatory matters. This is not a specialist role - breadth and business judgement are what MatX needs most. The role will develop strong and collaborative working relationships with internal Finance, HR, and Talent partners. The ideal candidate balances protecting the company with maintaining an employee-friendly, commercially practical approach - collaborating and finding ways to work within the rules rather than simply wielding the hammer.What You'll Do HereDraft, prepare, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including customer contracts, vendor deals, NDAs, and partnerships.Advise leadership on corporate governance, employment law, privacy, and regulatory compliance to achieve business objectives while protecting MatX’s confidential information and intellectual property rightsProvide strategic and transaction support and partnership to management and operations in support of the company vision and other objectivesContribute to and assist in developing and delivering training, communications, playbooks, contract templates, and processes and procedures for providing effective and efficient legal supportProvide timely and effective legal advice on a wide variety of corporate and commercial legal issues, including but not limited to commercial law, intellectual property, data security, data privacy, antitrust law, ethics and compliance, environmental, health and safety, and product safetySupport fundraising and diligence, and other high-stakes moments as they come up.Monitor and communicate legal developments and follow up or escalate as applicable to ensure the business has process to complyServe the business and our employees, and possess the nuance to understand that these are not mutually exclusive.Who You AreJD from an accredited law school, active bar membership in at least one US jurisdiction, and 10+ years of legal experience.Background as a general counsel.
