About Us
Play and learning at Kid Angles is about the process, not the product. Children are able to reach their potential in each domain of development through our play-based, Reggio Emilia-inspired practices. We believe that children are capable of complex thinking, curious, independent, full of possibilities, and competent. They are capable of exploring and constructing their own findings. Children are wonders: they question everything, develop a deeper understanding, make predictions, and communicate their discoveries. The environment is meant to be a third teacher, playing an important role by sparking a child’s interest and inspiring wonders. The environment will provide learning experiences in response to children’s interests with intentional materials that promote deeper thinking skills. The materials provided will enrich the environment by allowing them to bump into literacy and math throughout the day.
An educator’s role in this type of classroom may look very different than most. (And it takes some time to get used to this idea!) Said by Loris Malaguzzi, “Stand aside for a while and leave room for learning, observe carefully what children do, and then, if you have understood well, perhaps teaching will be different from before.” This quote says it all. An educator’s role is to work as a partner in learning. We are to provoke children’s ideas, model questioning and researching attitudes, and listen.
The Director’s role in our facility is to manage day-to-day operations, working closely with educators and families to ensure a successful program. The Director adjusts and implements effective policies and procedures that promote the program's philosophy.
The Classroom Mentor’s role in our facility is to onboard and guide educators in classroom management, curriculum development, and implementation of Reggio Emilia-inspired practices.
