Job Title:English Language Development (ELD) Coordinator + (K-3 Instructional Component)Department: Federal ProgramsReports To: Associate Superintendent of Federal ProgramsWork Year: 195 DaysPosition SummaryThe English Language Development (ELD) Coordinator provides districtwide leadership for English Learner (EL) programming to ensure equitable access to grade-level curriculum and academic success for all EL students. This position is responsible for overseeing program implementation, ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements, supporting instructional effectiveness, and monitoring student progress.In addition to district leadership responsibilities, the ELD Coordinator will serve in a 0.5 instructional role at Central Primary School, providing targeted English language development services to students in grades 1-3. This dual-role position is designed to strengthen early language acquisition and improve long-term academic outcomes for English Learners.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDistrictwide Leadership and Program OversightCoordinate and oversee the district's English Learner program to ensure consistent, high-quality implementation across all schoolsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements related to EL services, including Title III and other applicable programsDevelop, implement, and monitor district EL plans, procedures, and program modelsCollaborate with school administrators and instructional staff to support EL program fidelityAnalyze EL student data (e.g., language proficiency, academic performance, reclassification rates) to guide decision-making and program improvementPrepare reports and documentation required for state and federal accountabilityInstructional Support and Professional DevelopmentProvide ongoing professional development and coaching to teachers on effective ELD strategies, sheltered instruction, and language acquisition practicesSupport integration of language development across content areasAssist teachers in using data to differentiate instruction for English LearnersDevelop and share instructional resources aligned to English language proficiency standardsDirect Student Services (0.5 Assignment)Deliver targeted, small-group English language development instruction to students in grades 1-3 at Central Primary SchoolDesign and implement lessons aligned to students' English proficiency levels and academic needsMonitor and document student progress in language acquisition and literacy developmentCollaborate with classroom teachers to align ELD instruction with core contentFamily and Community Engagement* Support communication with families of English Learners regarding program services and student progress* Promote family engagement strategies that support language development and academic successQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Education or related fieldValid state teaching licenseEndorsement in TESOLMinimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience, preferably with English LearnersPreferredMaster's degree in TESOL, Bilingual Education, Educational Leadership, or related fieldExperience in program coordination, instructional coaching, or leadership rolesKnowledge of federal programs, including Title III requirementsExperience with data analysis and progress monitoring systemsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong understanding of second language acquisition and effective ELD instructional strategiesAbility to analyze and interpret student data to inform instruction and program decisionsEffective coaching and professional development skillsStrong organizational, communication, and collaboration skillsAbility to work effectively with diverse student populations, staff, and familiesWorking ConditionsCombination of office, classroom, and school-site environmentsFrequent travel between district schoolsOccasional evening or after-hours meetingsPerformance Outcomes / Expected ImpactIncreased English language proficiency growth among EL studentsImproved early literacy outcomes in grades 1-3Strengthened instructional capacity of teachers serving English LearnersGreater consistency and fidelity of EL services across the districtReduction in long-term English Learner identification ratesEvaluationPerformance will be evaluated annually in accordance with district policy and based on program effectiveness, student outcomes, compliance, and instructional impact.
