Electronic Fiber Technician - Walt Disney World Telecommunications

Experience the Disney Difference through outstanding and unique perks and benefits like cast-exclusive discounts, and access to tuition assistance through Disney Aspire!Responsibilities : Daily address and resolve trouble tickets assigned by lead technicians and managementSpecialize in Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) fiber optic testingSet up and champion support for the fiber network during broadcasts or special eventsInstall and maintain copper cable and fiber optics for Audio, Video, and Control Systems (AM&CS) installationsAttend vital training programs to stay updated and ensure job competence and safety, including confined space trainingInstall fiber optic cabling required for new buildings and building rehabilitationsIdentify and mark cable/fiber lines to make possible the issuance of dig permitsUse specialized equipment such as OTDR and IOLM to diagnose issues with fiber optics and isolate the root causePump utility access holes to facilitate the installation of fiber linesRegularly splice, test, and terminate fiber optic lines using high precision fusion splicing machinesAggressively ensure traffic safety when working in active roadwaysPerform installations, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with Disney specificationsBasic Qualifications : Must have a valid Florida Driver's LicenseProficient in fiber optic cabling, possessing a strong understanding of their properties and applications such as splicing, testing, troubleshooting and accurate dress inFamiliarity with Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) specificationsKnowledge of telecommunication specifications relevant to copper cable and fiber opticsFamiliarity with tools used for the repair and installing fiber cabling, such as fusion splicers and OTDR equipmentFamiliarity with tools used for the repair, testing, splicing, and installing copper cable including CAT5e and CAT6 cablingUnderstanding of safety training, including maintenance of traffic and confined space protocolsSkilled and decisive in troubleshooting while optimally identifying and resolving issues and repairs of fiber optic linesProficient in locating and marking cable of the fiber optic lines to facilitate excavation work in the designated areaAbility to work in confined spaces while adhering to safety guidelinesProficient in splicing, testing, and terminating fiber optic cablesExperience working with high count fiber optic splice cases, single panel housings and fiber termination shelvesKnowledgeable in OSP and ISP fiber optic cable and splice case placementExcellent collaboration skills, capable of working with various departments and vendors to achieve common goalsCan deliver clear and concise verbal and written messages in English that facilitate a mutual understandingCandidates may be asked to take a written and practical (fiber splicing) assessment after the interviewPreferred Qualifications: Associate degree or equivalent is preferredRequired Education : High school diploma or GEDAdditional Information : Schedule AvailabilityOur Theme Parks and Resort Hotels operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
