We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer (Ignition Programmer) to join our team in Richmond, VA. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain industrial automation and SCADA systems with a focus on Ignition by Inductive Automation. The ideal candidate will be experienced in controls engineering, PLC integration, and HMI/SCADA development, and must hold an Ignition Core Certification.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and deploy SCADA/HMI solutions using the Ignition platformIntegrate Ignition with PLCs, databases, and industrial networksDevelop and maintain scripts, tags, alarms, and visualization components in IgnitionSupport commissioning and troubleshooting of control systems in manufacturing or industrial environmentsCollaborate with engineering, operations, and IT teams to deliver scalable automation solutionsDocument system architecture, configurations, and development standardsProvide technical support and continuous improvement for existing automation systemsRequired QualificationsIgnition Core Certification (required)Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)2+ years of experience in industrial automation or SCADA developmentExperience with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similarExperience with scripting (Python within Ignition) and SQL databasesStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
