About the Role
As a Structural Steel Assembler, you will play a vital role in transforming raw materials into the backbone of major construction projects. You will utilize your technical expertise to interpret complex designs and execute precise fabrication processes, ensuring that every component meets rigorous structural integrity standards.
Responsibilities
Interpret detailed shop drawings to accurately layout, fit, and position structural elements such as beams, columns, and bracing.
Execute precise measurements and markings using industrial tools to ensure component accuracy.
Perform tack welding to secure assemblies, preparing them for final structural welding.
Operate heavy machinery including overhead cranes, thermal cutting equipment, and magnetic drills to process steel components.
Conduct thorough quality inspections, verifying piece marks, heat numbers, and dimensions to maintain project specifications.
Maintain a high-standard, organized, and safety-focused workspace to maximize operational efficiency.
Proactively communicate drawing discrepancies or material issues to leadership to prevent production delays.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Proven experience in a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting 2D shop drawings and blueprints.
Advanced ability to read tape measures and perform shop math calculations.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to industrial protocols.
Preferred Skills
Hands-on experience with MIG welding processes and manual plasma cutting equipment.
Familiarity with operating overhead cranes and industrial power tools.
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on high-quality craftsmanship.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding shop environment.
