In this role, you’ll play an essential part in ensuring quality, durability, and compliance across earthwork, aggregate materials, compaction testing, and project execution.What You’ll DoTechnical & Field InspectionObserve and inspect soil, aggregate, and earthwork operations to ensure compliance with contract specificationsPerform field density testing using nuclear density gauges to verify compaction of soils, subgrades, and aggregate materialsConduct sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, and related construction materials in accordance with project requirementsMonitor placement and compaction activities for embankments, subgrades, foundations, and roadway constructionCollect and document field test data accurately and efficientlySubmit daily inspection reports within Maintain 90%+ completion of all assigned safety trainingTarget zero avoidable safety or equipment incidentsSubmit 98% of draft reports within 8 hours — with minimal revisionsMaintain 95% on-time site check-in/check-outLess than 1 serious issue per quarter related to Inspections, Measuring, and Test Equipment due to technician error, lack of maintenance, or lost/damaged equipmentDocumentation & Quality RecordsMaintain accurate inspection records using AEIS digital reporting toolsReview and verify technical documents, test results, material certifications, and project specificationsEnsure all testing and inspection activities are properly documented and traceableCollaboration & Continuous ImprovementWork closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and QA/QC SpecialistsContribute to lessons-learned discussions and workflow improvementsSupport project teams in resolving material and construction quality issuesWhat We're Looking ForMust HavesNETTCP Soil and Aggregate Inspector Certification (preferred)2+ years of experience in construction inspection and materials testingExperience operating nuclear density gauges (Troxler or Humboldt)Knowledge of soil classification, aggregate testing, and compaction verification proceduresFamiliarity with ASTM, AASHTO, and state DOT testing standardsOSHA 30 Construction Safety Training (or ability to obtain)Strong communication and attention to detailWillingness to travel to project sitesBonus PointsNETTCP Concrete Technician CertificationACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade IExperience with public infrastructure and transportation projectsExperience performing laboratory soil and aggregate testingFamiliarity with roadway, utility, and site development construction practicesWhy This Role Stands OutDirect collaboration with AEIS Materials Testing, Metallurgy & NDT LabsAccess to internal certification programsWork alongside PEs, senior inspectors, and technical expertsCompetitive pay aligned with certifications & experienceClear growth pathway to QA Lead and Technical SpecialistSupportive, inclusive, and professional team culture
