Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer III – Generation ProjectsLocation: Jackson, MI working hybrid schedule (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday onsite) Duration: Until May 2027 (with a possibility of extension)Non-local candidates willing to relocate to Michigan are preferred over fully remote candidates Per Diem: $550 weekly offered for non-local candidates Department Overview:Responsible for the development and engineering of new generation assets including:Natural Gas GenerationSolarWindBattery Storage ProjectsPosition SummarySeeking a Mechanical Engineer III to support natural gas generation development projects. The engineer will work closely with the Lead Project Engineer and support engineering activities including drawing reviews, specification development, equipment reviews, site visits, RFIs, and vendor submittals for power generation facilities.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport mechanical engineering activities for natural gas generation projectsReview and update P&IDs, equipment layouts, and construction drawingsPrepare technical specifications for mechanical equipment and materialsReview vendor submittals and equipment drawingsEvaluate mechanical equipment sizing, piping layouts, and fluid systemsRespond to RFIs and support engineering documentationSupport project budgeting, cost estimation, and reporting activitiesEnsure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirementsCoordinate with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and clientsPerform site visits to support engineering and construction activitiesSupport development and implementation of mechanical systems for power generation facilitiesRequired Experience4–7 years of relevant mechanical engineering experienceExperience supporting power generation or industrial projectsStrong understanding of:P&IDsMechanical equipment layoutsPiping systemsPower generation fluid systemsExperience with systems such as:SteamCondensateFuel GasCooling WaterCompressed Air SystemsRequired Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationOrganizational skills with attention to detailProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to learn and adapt to new engineering software/toolsEducation Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Welding, or Industrial Engineering from an ABET-accredited programOREngineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program with Professional Engineering (PE) License in Mechanical EngineeringInterview Process:2 RoundsMS Teams Video Interviews
