Lead Data Scientist

A technology leader providing AI-powered decision intelligence solutions for national security, supply chain management, and digital identity is seeking a talented individual to join their innovative team.The Role Design and build rule-weighted composite scoring logic to transform risk signals into transparent, defensible scores. Prepare scoring approaches and model architectures for future interpretable ML-based scoring, ensuring explainability. Define scoring framework components, including feature groupings, weights, thresholds, and handling missing data. Create interpretable explanations for scores and drivers suitable for adjudicator review and audit needs. Partner with data engineering and application teams to productionize scoring logic, defining data inputs, contracts, and performance expectations. Establish validation and monitoring approaches for model/score quality assurance, drift indicators, and distribution checks.What You'll Need Bachelor's Degree with 8-10 years of experience, Master's with 6-8 years, or PhD with 3-5 years (or 6 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor's). 3-5 years of applied data science experience delivering scoring, ranking, or decision-support models. Experience implementing interpretable approaches such as rule-based systems or explainability methods (e.g., SHAP). Strong Python skills, including scikit-learn and common data science workflows, and hands-on experience with SQL. Ability to clearly communicate complex scoring logic to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
