The role will play a critical part in stabilizing current operations, optimizing die performance, and supporting future insourcing initiatives.The ideal candidate thrives on the production floor, enjoys solving real mechanical and process problems, and brings both technical depth and practical troubleshooting experience to stamping environments.About the RoleThe Stamping Process Engineer will be responsible for optimizing, standardizing, and modernizing mechanical stamping operations within an evolving manufacturing environment.This is a highly hands-on position requiring significant time on the production floor working directly with presses, dies, operators, and maintenance teams to improve safety, reliability, and throughput.ResponsibilitiesChampion safety across stamping operations, ensuring compliance with internal and industry standardsLead hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical stamping presses and die processesWork directly with operators and technicians to improve process stability and reduce reactive "run-to-failure" practicesConduct tooling assessments and recommend improvements in die design, function, and repair strategyRunoff and qualify new presses, dies, and auxiliary equipment to ensure production readinessOptimize press operations including setup, tonnage monitoring, die protection systems, lubrication, and material feeding systemsEvaluate and improve auxiliary equipment including uncoilers, straighteners, feeders, die carts, conveyors, robotic arms, part collection systems, and safety systemsAdvise on capital equipment investments and press selectionSupport nearshoring and insourcing initiatives by specifying stamping equipment and layout requirementsCollaborate cross-functionally with quality, manufacturing, and leadership teams to implement structured process improvementsApply Lean, Six Sigma, PFMEA, APQP, and DFM methodologies to drive operational excellencePresent updates and recommendations to senior leadershipMentor junior engineers and help build process discipline within the stamping functionQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field5+ years of experience working with mechanical stamping press equipmentStrong hands-on die setup, process setup, and troubleshooting experienceProven understanding of metal forming processes and material behaviorExperience with APQP, PFMEA, PPAP, and DFM practicesCAD proficiency requiredExperience working with OEM stamping presses such as Minster, Niagara, AIDA, or Bliss strongly preferredExperience with tonnage monitors, die protection systems, and press monitoring systemsFamiliarity with hardware manufacturing processes such as stamping, roll forming, machining, or automated assemblyStrong analytical problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and production teamsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environmentMinimal travel required initially, with potential for increased travel as insourcing initiatives expandBonus eligibleMust be legally authorized to work in the country of employment
