The Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as: Angiography, biopsies, drain placements, vascular access procedures, embolizations, and other minimally invasive image-guided procedures. They work closely with radiologists, technologists, and other interdisciplinary team members.The primary purpose of the RN-Interventional Radiology is to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, delegate and coordinate individual patient care from pre-procedural phase to discharge. They provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients and families in the Radiology Department which is inclusive of Computed Tomography scan (CT), Interventional Radiology (IR), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).Major Duties include, but are not limited to:Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures (e.g., angiography, biopsies, drain placements, vascular access).Performs pre-procedure assessments, patient education, and ensures informed consent is obtained.Monitors patients during procedures, including administration and management of moderate sedation, vital signs, and emergency response.Maintains sterile technique and assists with procedural setup and post-procedure recovery.Collaborates with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.Documents all aspects of care in the electronic health record (e.g., CPRS).Participates in quality improvement initiatives, infection control practices, and continuing education relevant to interventional radiology nursing.May participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent or emergent IR procedures.All other duties as assigned, pertaining to this occupation, to meet the needs of the Agency, Department, Facility, and/or Service.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday 7:30am - 4:00pmTelework: Not availableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized.Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized.
