Posting DetailsPosition Information Position TitleAdministrative Assistant IJob ResponsibilitiesPosition SummaryThe Administrative Assistant I provides centralized administrative coordination for units housed within the Kirk Building. The position supports multiple student success units located in the building and serves as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, employers, and community partners entering the facility.Located at the Kirk Building information desk, the position assists students in navigating available services to ensure even complex student needs are met, supports building operations, and coordinates administrative processes across multiple offices. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment in working with individual students as well as facilitating/coordinating operations within and across the building's five offices.Job ResponsibilitiesServing as the primary front-line contact for the Kirk Building: greeting students and other visitors, asking clarifying questions to achieve an in-depth understanding of their needs, using knowledge of each office's services to determine the most appropriate office(s) to meet those needs, and connecting students and other visitors to the correct resource within the Kirk Building or across campus.Coordinating the administrative functions of the Center for Academic Excellence, the Career Center, the SKILLS Center, the Office of Student Access and Disability Services, and the Writing Center.Providing secretarial support to the building's committees and working groups.Managing the front desk and other office areas of the building.Maintaining building key distribution and access records.Maintaining confidential student files and records.Coordinating community-facing events, such as employer visits, outreach programs, and community engagement activities.Hiring and supervising student workers.Assisting the directors of the building's five offices with budgets, purchasing, and requisitionsCoordinating travel arrangements and reimbursements for professional staff.Coordinating use of Kirk Building physical spaces.Some building coordinator responsibilities.Other duties as assigned.Truman offers an attractive benefits package including: paid sick and vacation time; paid holidays; medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; and retirement plan.
