Job DescriptionThe Head of Retail at Varley will be responsible for the day-to-day management of UK and US stores and people leadership, with a clear focus on store-level performance, operational compliance, and retail leadership. They will ensure the delivery of performance against agreed budgets and KPIs while driving consistent execution of retail standards across all stores.Responsibilities Commercial Performance & Store Operations• Drive store-level performance across sales, conversion, AOV, and UPT in line with business targets.• Set clear targets and lead teams to achieve commercial objectives and exceptional customer experience.• Plan and conduct in-store visits to assess performance, provide feedback, and support Store Managers in achieving their goals.• Oversee store operations, implementing best practices in inventory management, visual merchandising, and customer service across all locations.• Measure the impact of events on sales and customer loyalty, managing data capture and e-receipts.• Monitor customer feedback and use insights (e.g., via Servicate) to continuously improve the retail experience. Leadership & People Management• Lead, coach, and develop Area Managers and Store Managers, providing clear direction and fostering a culture of collaboration.• Hold regular team and individual meetings to support performance, coaching, and talent development.• Promote internal progression by identifying and developing high-potential employees.• Recruit and retain top talent to ensure stores are appropriately staffed.• Provide HR support including performance reviews, recruitment, and handling escalations.• Manage payroll efficiency and workforce planning across the fleet. Operational Excellence & Compliance• Ensure consistent execution of operational procedures and policies, including local health and safety regulations.• Maintain strong operational and inventory control compliance across all locations.• Ensure all retail environments and activities align with brand standards and guidelines.• Deliver and embed HQ initiatives (e.g., CRM programs) effectively in stores.
