IT Field Technician (Networking & Security)

About the RoleWe’re looking for a hands-on IT Field Technician who enjoys working in the field, solving real-world problems, and building IT infrastructure on-site.This role is not desk-only — you’ll be traveling to client locations, installing equipment, troubleshooting networks, and supporting IT environments from the ground up. You’ll handle everything from user issues to full network deployments and security systems.What You’ll Do (In the Field)🔧 On-Site IT & Client SupportTravel to client sites to troubleshoot and resolve IT issuesProvide deskside support for users, systems, and connectivity problemsHandle device deployments (PCs, printers, access points, etc.)🌐 Network Installation & InfrastructureInstall and configure routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systemsRun and terminate CAT6 and fiber cablingRack and stack network equipment in closets or server roomsConfigure VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and VPN connectivity🔐 Security & Advanced Networking (Hands-On)Deploy and support firewalls (pfSense, Fortinet, Cisco)Configure IDS/IPS systems (Snort, Suricata)Assist with network segmentation and secure designSupport failover, dual-WAN, and high-availability setups🧰 MSP / Ticket-Driven WorkRespond to service tickets and meet SLA expectationsDocument work performed, configs, and network diagramsSupport multiple client environments with varying infrastructuresWhat We’re Looking For✅ 3+ years of hands-on, field-based IT experience ✅ Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP) ✅ Experience installing and troubleshooting physical network infrastructure ✅ Comfortable working on ladders, in ceilings, and in network closets ✅ Experience with Windows, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 ✅ Ability to manage tickets while handling on-site responsibilities ✅ Strong communication skills with clients and internal teamsNice to Have⭐ Experience with pfSense, Snort, Suricata ⭐ MSP background (multi-client environments) ⭐ Certifications (Network+, CCNA, Security+, etc.) ⭐ Experience with structured cabling and low-voltage workWhat You’ll Get💰 Competitive pay (based on experience) 🚗 Mileage reimbursement or company vehicle 🏥 Health, dental, and vision insurance 🌴 PTO, holidays, and sick time 🧰 Tools, uniforms, and training provided 📈 Growth into Network Engineer / Security rolesWhy This Role Stands OutThis is a true field role — you won’t be stuck behind a desk.
